what we do: daily routine (am)
Morning session

0845   Children arrive – self registration (name recognition)
We welcome parents into the setting

0845- 10.45 FREEPLAY – There is a choice of carefully selected activities, covering all areas of learning.  Children move freely between activities (including those in the outside area), supported by the staff.

PROJECT – during freeplay children can choose to come and join in with our adult-led activity.  This is often a craft activity which we can display or the children can take home at the end of the session.

SNACK – during freeplay we have a snack table supervised by a member of staff, where children can serve themselves a healthy snack and a drink.

10.45 TIDY-UP TIME – we encourage everybody to help tidy our toys away.

11.00-11.20 PHYSICAL SESSION – On alternate days we have a structured physical session.  This is either a Dance or PE session and all children are encouraged to join in and have fun.

11.25-12.40 CIRCLE TIME – We all get together at the end of the session share an activity.  This may be singing, playing musical instruments, number games, learning the days of the week, or listening to a story.  We also celebrate birthdays and talk about our termly theme.

11.45 HOMETIME – we welcome parents into the setting to collect their children.

During the morning we have a snack bar open so that children can choose when to come and have a healthy snack.  We offer a wide variety of fruit and vegetables, breadsticks, cheese and other healthy options.  Children can choose to drink milk or water at snack time and have access to drinking water throughout the session.  Parents are encouraged to inform us of any dietary requirements and we welcome any suggestions for new snacks, particularly foods from around the world.
